April 2007
The expanded image left gives an idea of the size that the
over-size needs to be broken to for crusher feed. Centre
right you can still see the larger, unbroken material; Rocky
can't reach any further into the stockpile until the broken
rock is carted to the crusher. In the background is the
stockpiled overburden that will eventually be used for rehabilitation work.
April 17th and Todd, one of our Komatsu 30 tonne dump trucks, started
work at Mataranka too. This image shows him being loaded with broken
rock for cartage to the crusher; then Rocky and Russell will move
back in and continue their seemingly endless job!

Rocky looks so busy here; plenty of big rocks ahead, broken
rock in front of him, and even a pile of the end product
from the crusher in the left of the expanded image. Alas, on April
28th, the piston in Rocky's hammer flew to bits; fatal damage...
brand new hammer required! Still, we can't complain; it's 12 years
since it was delivered new to this very same quarry in 1995!
