Wave Wall - Fort Hill End - Bring On The Concrete!

May 2007

Most of this months page is dedicated to a small gang of workers that has toiled away quietly, week in - week out, on a vital aspect of the waterfront development; the wave wall. The expanded image left, taken May 2nd, reveals there's just a few days of the staggered pouring sequence remaining.

They've been hard at it since October last year; 7 1/2 months of form, pour, strip, clean, then form up again! May 8th, this is the day they've been waiting for, all ready for the last main pour on the 650m long wall.

Wave Wall - Finished!

Convention Centre Roof May 31,2007

Ta da... all done; the only job remaining is to start chopping up the formwork! Not what you think... there's still the fiddly little bits either end of the main wall that require cutting the formwork to suit.

Well that's May finished; as you can see from the expanded image left, the Convention Centre's distinctive roof is progressing nicely. Along with the easily visible external progress, the internal fitout is moving ahead equally rapidly.
