SitzlerBM - Lift Shafts and Structural Steel

October 2006

The enlarged image left shows SitzlerBM's office with the new swimming lagoon behind, and the new marina basin behind that. The concrete slab on the left of the image is the ground floor of the new Convention Centre; behind the fence right is the excavation for the wave pool.

Lift shafts for the Convention Centre are well advanced and the erection of structural steel has begun.

Sea Wall - Wave Wall Construction

The image left, is an aerial photo from the NT Government's web site about the Waterfront Development. Look closely at the earthworks on the left hand end of the seawall in the expanded image, and you will see that they are almost complete. A check back to a similar image on the May 2006 page will show you just how much progess has been made, particularly on the Convention Centre.

Construction of the wavewall is now underway using purpose built steel forms to enable a rapid casting sequence. The concrete wall sits atop a cast insitu footing and raises the seawall to it's final height. There is a lip on the outside of the wall to turn any cresting waves back on themselves. A promenade will be constructed on the inside so people can eventually stroll the full length of the wall.
